Another school holidays over.....

Although summer is not over just yet, another school holidays has finished and kids are going back to school. Let's hope we get some nice September sunshine so visitors to Dawlish can fully appreciate what tne town has to offer; a walk along the seawall and beach, watching the wildfowl on the brook and of course enjoying a Devon Cream Tea at a certain Dawlish tea room!

We've had a good summer here at the tearoom. It was nice to see all the regulars who return each year to holiday in Dawlish, and are grateful that they keep returning! It's pretty tough for a lot of small businesses at the moment,  people are here on holiday but perhaps don't have the money to spend on eating out or other things, so I am extremely glad that we have still had a relatively busy season, considering.

Another Carnival Week has passed with all the usual fun and antics and the bank holiday weekend was really busy with lots of visitors to the town.

Children go back to school next week and things will quieten down a little. In fact I know some people who prefer to come away to Dawlish in September as it's less busy and I look forward to seeing those people over the next few weeks. If you're looking for a nice day out at the seaside away from the crowds, them September is the perfect time to visit.

I have been trialling a new cream tea this week - a Black Forest Cream Tea. Chocolate scones with clotted cream and blackcurrant jam - it may sound a bit strange but it works! Perhaps I may come up with some more different cream teas now things are less hectic, and will endeavour to look into gluten free options also.

Watch this space!
